CP Blog Entry #12 Has there been "buy in" for the continuation of your Change Project and at what level? Ex. Classroom, grade level, school, district, state, global, etc.
My Change Project would continue to stay in the classroom level at this point. I am still figuring out how to implement the MFAS assessments successfully along with which ones to use for the kindergarten level. My class continues to be a challenge on a daily basis which makes teaching a new concept difficult. My i-ready scores have increased and they are showing growth, but my project could be improved on several levels. I already have ideas for next year to really get a handle on this. I also have eliminated some of the assessments that were not beneficial or take too much time to administer. These steps will help with next year's implementation. I am beginning to branch out and see what schools, teachers, etc. are already using them in kindergarten to find out which ones are beneficial to their students. I really like the concept of using them but as with any subject area, there is never enough time!

It sounds like you have a good head-start for next year's implementation. Perhaps you can also make contact with other teachers across the state who are using the MFAS assessments.
ReplyDeleteI have contacted Laura Lang with some questions but asking other teachers around the state is a great suggestion! I'm not sure how to contact others in the state so I'm going to start here in Charlotte County!
DeleteReaching out to other teachers is a great idea! (I'll get back to you once our teachers have let me know which MFAS assessments they are using.)
ReplyDeleteTess has a great suggestion to reach out across the state. I wonder who would know which districts are using them more.
I have heard back from one of your teachers but she didn't quite have an answer. I hope to hear from more. I think Neil Armstrong teachers use them so I will reach out to them next.
DeleteI wonder if a district blog would be beneficial for teachers at your grade level to have a place to discuss the MFAS. What would be great is if we could have PD days that catered to grade levels meeting and discussing best practices.

ReplyDeletePD for specific grade levels would be awesome! It really makes a difference! A blog sounds cool too!
DeleteI will need to make sure to alert the PD people to try and focus on district grade level PD. It really is a good idea and glad you agree too :)
DeleteI know as a kinder teacher I am waiting to hear about your implementation. This year's kinders are tough as a whole!
